About Sound Series 2026

Since 2014, the Blindside x Liquid Architecture Sound Series has provided a platform for artists working critically and experimentally with sound and listening. The series supports the development and presentation of innovative art practices that engage sound and listening, through exhibitions, performances, and public programs presented at Blindside gallery (54 Errol Street, North Melbourne).

For the 2026 Sound Series, Liquid Architecture and Blindside invite proposals from artists seeking curatorial mentorship and financial support to develop and present new work or works-in-progress at Blindside. Selected artists will receive curatorial guidance, a materials and production allowance ($500), and an artist fee ($1,200).

Artists at all stages of their practice are encouraged to apply with proposals that engage sound and listening in ambitious, experimental, and critically engaged ways.

Proposals, assessment, and dates:

Artistic proposals for the Blindside x Liquid Architecture Sound Series 2026 will be accepted until Wednesday 24 June 2026 11:59pm. Proposals will be assessed by Blindside and Liquid Architecture staff, and selected artists (up to 3) will be notified within 1 week of their selection.

The 2026 Sound Series exhibition dates are:

• Exhibition: Wed 2nd Sep - Sat 26th Sep
• Install: Mon 31st August - Tues 1st September
• Deinstall: Sun 27th Sep by 5pm
• Opening: Thurs 3rd Sep, 6-8pm

Eligibility:

Applications are open to artists of all ages identifying as emerging to mid-career.
