We made a song book for the gallery but since we can't be in the gallery with you we scanned the book and sung you a song in Royal Park. The poetry in the song comes from what Donald Winnicott thinks a baby would say, if it spoke to its mother. We found this poem in the book 'The Argonauts' by Maggie Nelson. Coincidentally, we started reading this book at the same time.
Songs so far by Evelyn Pohl and Yundi Wang will be exhibited at Blindside 6-23 April 2022.
Let's sing a little song about love, about you and the blue, blue sky.
We have made the songs alone and together, inside and outside. We talk about the weather with care, enjoying each others’ voices traveling to our ears. It’s the breakfast that your loved one makes; it’s the long walk with the rainbow hanging on the sky after a heavy rain; it’s the honey to the bee, and you to me.

This program takes place on the land of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. We recognise that sovereignty was never ceded - this land is stolen land. We pay respects to Wurundjeri Elders, past, present and emerging, to the Elders from other communities and to any other Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders who might encounter or participate in the program.
Evelyn Pohl paints and sometimes makes performances that focus on love and irrational wanting depicted in music, tv shows and pop culture. Thinking about romance alone is a little sad, but sometimes she can think and make things with Yundi so everything is a little better.
Yundi Wang articulates her experience in societal norms, morality, and interpersonal relationships through making art. These artworks are usually presented as videos, sounds, performances, writing, strange sculptural objects and photographs. When making videos, Yundi composes footage through observation; observing the accidents in the playing (with footage); playing as manipulating them through a process of digital cut and paste, collaging, and using metaphor. Yundi collaborates with others in order to learn, to fight, and to grow together. Some recent exhibitions include Not a Musical, with Evelyn Pohl, George Paton Gallery, 2020; falling back to, Blindside Satellite, 2021; Blank Space Narration, performance with Echo Li, Das Boot Art Fair, 2022.
