Between Worlds: Navigating artistic experimentation, culturally informed practice, technology, ritual and context

Naretha Williams

19–19 Nov 2019

As an interdisciplinary experimental artist, Naretha’s processed based work is informed by several key points of inquiry – bio data, cultural practice, place and esoteric frameworks.

Working predominantly in audio arts with foundations in performing and fine arts, Naretha will discuss her approach through topics relating to identity and displacement, technology and science, contemporary ritual and hybrid lineage.

WRITING&CONCEPTS is a lecture and publication series exploring the insights that practitioners have in to their own creative and cultural practices, and provides an opportunity for them to discuss and publish these insights in a public forum. Contributors include practitioners for whom the written form is their primary professional output and practitioners whose work manifests as exhibitions or events within the domain of contemporary art.

Overview

Blindside x Writing and Concepts presents Naretha Williams: Between Worlds: Navigating artistic experimentation, culturally informed practice, technology, ritual and context.

This program takes place on the land of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. We recognise that sovereignty was never ceded - this land is stolen land. We pay respects to Wurundjeri Elders, past, present and emerging, to the Elders from other communities and to any other Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders who might encounter or participate in the program.
