Endless Projection

Endless Projection explored the production of perceptual experience through the interposition of the eye and the photographic apparatus. The works consisted of particular gestures undertaken with the camera, which accentuated the corporeal dimension of vision, and played upon the seductive process of identification at stake in the image. Video works with rhythmic and cyclic structures were generated through the employment of restricted movements and serial processes. In testing the limits of the photographic apparatus, the works sought to expose the aleatory and precarious condition of subjective experience.

This program takes place on the land of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. We recognise that sovereignty was never ceded - this land is stolen land. We pay respects to Wurundjeri Elders, past, present and emerging, to the Elders from other communities and to any other Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders who might encounter or participate in the program.
Stephen Palmer is an artist and writer living on Wurundjeri Country. He was a member of Artists’ Committee, was a co-facilitator of Light Projects ARI, and is currently a member of the Artists’ Union working group.
Tim Alves is a writer and a teacher at Monash University Library.
